Respite Plus Forum 2016

It was with great anticipation that we welcomed our Guest Presenter, Susan Norwell to the second Respite Plus Forum. This year we extended our reach to our partners in supporting those affected by Rett Syndrome and their families.

Day One saw over 80 professionals attend our development day where Susan walked teachers, teacher assistants, support staff and therapists through her approaches to maximising communication opportunities with girls and women of all ages living with the many challenges associated with their condition.

Day Two saw families arrive with great expectations and these too, were met by Susan with her many years of experience and expertise inspiring families. By sharing her many stories of successful communication with those who had in years gone by, been deemed unable to make their needs known,Susan left those in attendance with positive outlooks for the future and a sense of feeling renewed on their quest to support their family members.

On Day Three families attended sessions with LifeTec showcasing the latest in communication devices, Parent to Parent sessions with NDIS overviews and some 'how to' create Circles of Support sessions.

We were also fortunate to secure Susan for three additional days where she conducted one on one sessions with families. These sessions succeeded in leaving families with renewed enthusiasm and belief and all who attended left with much to be look forward to and many keen to see Susan return to continue their conversation.

DVD sets of two discs  are available for purchase for both families and professionals at a cost of $25 per set.
