ArtWorkz - Art for Everybody
On the 11th of September 2021, the inaugural ArtWorkz - Art for Everyone exhibition was held at the Coolum Civic Centre. ArtWorkz was a very successful collaborative event, Equity Works partnered with Spiral to bring this event to the community.
Seventeen artists were showcased at the event with many exhibiting their art for the first time. Another first for many artists was the sale of their work. All of the sales of art went directly to the exhibiting artist, making for the artists an experience which resulted in both creative and commercial success.
Equity Works and Spiral sponsored the costs associated with the event with additional financial support being provided by Sunshine Coast Councillors, Cr Maria Suarez, and Cr David Law. The team at Sunshine Coast Council helped raise awareness of the event by sharing posts across their social media.
WIN News and the Coolum Advertiser contributed to the positive representation in the media through their publishing of stories and articles directly engaging with participating artists, Jesse Cameron and Debbie Costin.
Widespread community support was integral to the organisation of the event with display boards shared at no cost by the Coolum Art Collective, decadent mini cakes and tarts donated by Ricks Artisan Pies and Sourdough from Noosaville, and event photography lovingly captured and shared by Paula Brennan, Photographer.
All of the Artists were professionally profiled in an Exhibition Book and most attended the event, staying for hours, interacting with visitors and sharing their creative story with interested people.
The project team were working together across the two organisations for the first time, Mirka from Equity Works, with Peta and Tara from Spiral. Their combined efforts resulted in a welcoming and professionally curated event. We are already looking forward to next year, planning an event held across multiple days with ability to exhibit more artists.
