Equity Works and the month of Expos
Josh and Jake make a splash at Currimundi Special School Expo
Equity Works had an enjoyable time when we attended Currimundi’s Special School ‘Post School Expo’ this month. We were delighted to have Josh and Jake to help set up our stall and interact with families and other services during the evening.
As we met with families and teachers on the night, Josh shared his personal experiences from transitioning from school and his journey with Equity Works over the last three years. We were able to provide information about the services we currently provide and introduced our piloted Equity for Youth program.
We were grateful to be part of the Expo and thank you to the families who shared with us their dreams and expectations for their young person.
We also attended the Fresh Futures Market held at the new Convention Centre at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane. This was a tremendous opportunity to showcase our services offered not only via our house at Brendale, but the opportunity for families to consider our Brookes Street house as a getaway destination on the Sunshine Coast. It was a very well attended event with over 1000 people visiting some 50 providers of various services for school leavers. One of the highlights of the day was the set performed by The Outsiders Sunshine Coast Band. The Outsiders were able to attend due to the support of the On Track Co-op who ensured that Inclusion Plus' bus was available for the band to travel to Brisbane.
