A Fair Day Out Does Halloween in 2015
Equity Works, together with the On Track Co-operative celebrated their third, A Fair Day Out, on Saturday October 31 at Original Eumundi Markets with some 250 volunteers, performers and stallholders contributing to the event this year.
Held in partnership with the Original Eumundi Markets, the event is designed to create and celebrate inclusive communities. The Markets provide the venue, resources and in kind support for stallholders from the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Hervey Bay disability communities, to sell their wares.
As our numbers have grown, we took a number of our stalls up to the main market area in Lonergan’s Lane this year, where we were able to mingle with the many visitors, performers and visitors who got into the spirit of the event by dressing up in Halloween costumes and creating an atmosphere of fun and frivolity throughout the day.
Over 200 children came along and played games on the free Trick or Treat Trail and got creative in the two free arts and crafts tents which were supported by a grant from the Sunshine Coast Council. The grant also supported costs of volunteer resources and promotional materials.
This event has now become a mainstay in our calendar with The Original Eumundi Markets confirming they are committed to supporting the event in 2016 and beyond. It is never too soon to start getting organised, so if you like having fun and are committed to a community of inclusion, get in touch and be a part of A Fair Day Out 2016! What might be possible?
